Red Oak - (Population 5742)

Red Oak, county seat of Montgomery County, is located on Highway 34 along the Nishnabotna River.  Developed Industrial Parks feature diversified industries employing more than 1000 workers.  Recreational opportunities include an 18 hole golf course and a YMCA with indoor walking track, swimming pool and four tennis courts.  Lovely Victorian homes grace residential streets.

Stanton  (Population 689)

Stanton, known for its Swedish heritage, has a skyline marked with colorful Swedish Coffeepot and cup along with the limestone steeple of the Mamrelund Lutheran church.  Viking Lake State Park with its camping, fishing, boating, swimming and trails is located 2.5 miles east of Stanton.

Villisca (Population 1252)

Villisca, whose name means "pretty place" in Native American, lies at the fork of the Middle and West Nodaway Rivers.  Its Armory building is the oldest in the state of Iowa.  Tourist attraction includes the Villisca Ax Murder House.
